Nombre

  • NeOn – Lifecycle Support for Networked Ontologies

Description

  • NeOn´s project objective is the creation of the first infrastructure and methodology aimed at constructing Semantic Web applications. These applications are planned as economically viable solutions based on ontological networks.
  • NeON applications will be mainly developed in two sectors: pharmaceutical and agricultural, fields that will provide realistic testing grounds not open to current technology.

Expected results

  • Methods and tools for managing the dynamics of ontological networks.
  • Methods and tools for collaborative use and development of distributed ontologies.
  • Methods and tools for reasoning and interference with distributed ontologies.
  • Methods and tools for improving the human - ontology interaction.

Business Implications

  • From a business point, for example, in the pharmaceutical industry, it is possible to hugely reduce costs by implementing Semantic Web technologies with the integration of traditional systems like SAP, Navision, Oracle, etc. The Pharmalnnova initiative points in this direction, grouping together key actors in the Spanish panorama from within this sector.
